Focus On The Folklore

One of the most amusing aspects of St. Patrick’s Day is the vibrant backstory many children’s authors have attached to the holiday. Kids love hearing about magical four-leaf clovers and pots of gold. Find a storybook about the holiday that suits your children’s sensibilities, whether that means beautifully illustrated or filled with silly humor, and dive in!

Get Crafty

A great way to bring St. Patrick’s story into real life is to help your kids make silly green crafts. We love making green caterpillars using egg cartons. All you need to do is cut and trim about five cups from the carton. Paint the cups green (or go wild with “scale” patterns) and arrange them in a line. Poke a hole in each cup (do this step without the help of your kids) and connect them together using a pipe cleaner. Glue on googly eyes and curled pipe cleaners (as antennae) and your caterpillar is ready to wiggle and crawl!

Set Out Some Leprechaun Bait

Silly catepillars are always fun, but what is St. Patrick’s Day without leprechauns? Kids (and parents!) love the idea of a mischievous little sprite dressed all in green who grants wishes. Help stoke your little one’s imagination by creating some leprechaun bait. All you need are some recycled glass jars (last night’s pasta sauce works great), food coloring, and some sparkly bits and baubles. Add some yellow and blue food coloring to two bowls of water and help your child to mix them together in the glass jar to magically make a green potion. Customize your bait with gold beans, bits of foil, colored confetti, green jewels, tiny shamrocks — anything shiny and glittery. Place them carefully in the jar. Once full, position the jar near a window and watch the potion sparkle!

Lucky Leprechaun Craft

St Patrick’s Day can be a fun holiday for you and your little ones. We put together an interactive craft that get to get kids jumping for joy, clicking their heels and smiling for the camera. Take photos of your little ones dressed up as festive Lucky Leprechauns and share them with us on Facebook!

Step 1: Gather your materials. You will need colored construction paper, a washable glue stick, a pen or washable marker, tape and wooden craft sticks. You can also replace the wooden craft sticks with popsicle sticks or wooden drink stirrers.

Step 2: Begin by sketching the basic shapes of your Lucky Leprechaun kit. Your shapes do not need to be perfect and feel free to use whichever colors you wish. Who ever said that Leprechauns only have orange beards? Cut out your shapes after sketching and place the shapes that go together nearby each other. Glue the gold coins to the back of the black pot, the rainbow arches to the clouds and the buckle and band to the green top hat.
Step 3: Once you have glued all the right pieces together. It’s now time to attach the stick so that the little ones can hold their new creations. Lay a wooden stick on the back of each creation and tape it well at the top and at the bottom. You can add a third piece of tape for extra sturdiness.

Trying to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? Our leprechaun Juicy Juice box craft is pure gold! This craft will be a great treat at any party!

Materials
Construction paper (black, green and yellow)
Scissors
Juicy Juice box

Step 1

Gather your materials.

Step 2

With your green construction paper, measure how much paper you need to cover the face of your juice box. Then, cut the construction paper along those measurements. Tape the construction paper on.

Step 3

Next, take your black paper and cut it into a belt shape.

Step 4

After cutting your belt, cut your buckle out of your yellow construction paper. Then, cut another square from the inside of your square.

Step 5

Leprechaun Spotting Binoculars

Spotting leprechauns is a demanding job, and it takes the right equipment to get the best results. We developed these precise leprechaun binoculars made of materials you have right at home. We hope this craft helps you find leprechauns, and we wish you the best of luck!

Materials
2 Juicy Juice boxes or toilet paper rolls
Green construction paper
Pipe Cleaners (we chose green)
String (we chose orange)
Tape
Glitter Glue or paint

Step One
Gather your materials.

Step Two

Take your empty Juicy Juice boxes and unfold the tabs on the bottom and top. Then, shape the Juicy Juice box into a cylinder. You may need to cut any tabs that poke out. After that, measure the length of construction paper you will need to cover the tubes. Next, cut the length of construction paper you will need, making sure to leave some paper to tuck into the ends of the tubes. Tape the ends down inside the tubes and tape down the long edges.

Step Three

Next, decorate your tube with glitter glue or paint. You’re going on a magical quest, so have a lot of fun with your designs. Next, get some pipe cleaners and cut them to the circumference of the tube’s ends. Shape the pipe cleaners to the ends of the tubes and tape them into place, making sure to cover the ends of the wires.

Step Four

Once you’ve finished decorating the tubes, tape them together side by side. So your binoculars don’t get too far from you, we suggest creating a neck strap with a piece of string. We measured the length we needed to comfortably fit around our necks, and then we punched holes in the binoculars and tied the string to keep it secure. Once you have completed this step, you are done! Go out there and find some leprechauns.

Bee and You Spring Review 2020

I am a huge honey fan. I know when my kiddos and I get sick during the winter season it can be tough. I know when one of my kids or myself complain of a soar throat I bring out the honey. Honey has always been a go to for me during  winter season. 

I recently came across a company called Bee and You and let me tell you they offer a wide variety of products. The first product that we are going to take a look at is their WildFlower Raw Honey. This comes in a 10.6 oz jar. This jar of honey retails at 18.99. This honey is 100% natural. When my daughter and I tasted this honey we noticed that it was a unique taste to it. Although we enjoyed the taste and it tasted amazing. The next product that we took a look at was their Bee & You Propolis Raw Honey Throat Spray. This is a perfect product if you suffer from throat irritations, sore  dryness, cough, colds, flu, persistent bad breath and throat infections. I always believed that honey products where the magical solution when you have irritated throats and sore throats. I will admit that I do tend to forget about products like this, although now I putting it on a shelf that I won't forget about it in the future. What is Propolis you ask? The last product that we received was their Bee & You Bee Pollen Whole Granules. This is a product that I was not aware of before today. I find this one the most interesting. The question is how do you use this product? It can be consumed directly or mixed with food such as milk, museli, yoghurt, or fruit juice. It is recommended to consume at least 2-4 teaspoon by adults. For children it recommended that they get 1-2 full teaspoons per day or as needed. Here is a fun fact that I learned from their website is due to the presence of vitamins, minerals and proteins, anyone can actually survive only by feeding on pollen and water. Are you a coffee drinker? I know my dad is a huge coffee drinker and there are time he wants his coffee on the go. Sometimes when my dad is in a rush he  option for his coffee. What ends up happening is that he goes through a drive thru and picks of a McDonalds coffee. Although we love McDonalds coffee at times, I think it hit or miss when it comes to their coffee. 

When I learned about Wacaco Pipamoka I knew that this was a must have for my dad. I will be honest when I first opened the Wacaco Pipamoka I was intimated and I thought that it would be tough to use and I was discourage. When I first tried it I was like wow this is very easy and what was I thinking that it would be difficult. 

Here is how simple this product is. You put hot/boiling water in your Wacaco. Then you use your spoon to measure your coffee and put it in the canister. How simple is that? It is very simple for me as a person who does not make coffee on a daily basis. Then you drop the canister in the hot/boiling water. You wait about 45 secs for the canister to go down to the bottom of your Wacaco. then you start to twist your Wacaco so it start to make your coffee. After you twist it all the way you have made your coffee. See how simple that process was to make your own fresh cup of coffee. 

What I love about this product is that you can bring it with you on the go!! I know when I go into the work place that everyone is worried on who makes the coffee first. The questions that I always here is the coffee burned? Who made the coffee? Is the coffee any good? Brightly Pals Review

My daughter is always looking for the most creative toys out on the market. My daughter was excited when she was recently introduced to Brightly Pals. My daughter is obsessed with unicorns and when she saw Brightly Pals offered an unicorn that lit up she was excited.

My daughter sometimes has a hard night sleeping at night. When my daughter figured out that it had a light up horn she immediately wanted to sleep with the unicorn. My daughter wanted to bring her unicorn everywhere she went. Her unicorn immediately became her best friend and became her safety net. It brought her joy. I caught her in the car talking to her unicorn. There were times that her unicorn would have to come and join dinner and had to eat dinner with us. Her unicorn was not just a stuff animal it became her friend. 

At night she would tell us that she was going to have a sleepover with her new unicorn. My daughter would tell her unicorn stories and then snuggle with her unicorn at night. Her new friend was her safe place. When she needed some light in the middle of the night her new friend allowed her to have that light that she needed in her room. 

Overall we were extremely happy with Brightly Pals. My daughter fell in love with her unicorn. I knew that this creation would be a hit for her, but I did not know that it would be her new best friend. It goes everywhere with her and it has become her safety net at age nine.

I know there are days that I dread giving my kiddo's a sippy cup or any kind of cup because it seems like what is inside the cup gets everywhere. Even though they say they are spill proof. I had the opportunity to review the Tommee Tippee Drinking cup. Well they say that they are spill proof and would not leak. So I had to try this product to see if this one leaked or not. I will let you know that all my sippy cups leak so at this point I was not sure if I wanted to believe that they where spill proof.

Well I received to of their Tommee Tippee Drinking cups for review. They came in a set of two. What I like about these cups is that they can come in gender for example I got two girl cups and they had girly designs on them. I received a pink and light blue cup. When I first saw these cups I loved the appearance of them. Tommee Tippee Drinking cups are different from others. They look like a sippy cup but have a plastic cover over them. then there is a lit put you can flip it over and there is a straw!. What I like about this feature that you can open and shut and it tucks the straw inside. The true test for me does this leak. Well I tried and tried and it did not leak and it was truly spill proof. I even held it upside down and I also was shaking it and nothing came out. A great plus to these cups they are also insulated which is a major plus. If I am going a trip it going to help keep my kiddos drinks cold. Also these cups are dishwasher safe. How amazing is that I love how I can put the cups in the dishwasher and make sure they get a great cleaning. They are also BPA free which I know that is very important. 

I have fallen in love with these cups. Also my daughter will not go back to any other cup. She loves it and it is easy for her told hold. She also brings it everywhere she goes. I have a nine year old who really wanted to try it. He is a little bit behind but not that far behind. We needed to find a program that could help him during the summer to brush up alphabet and numbers before he enter kindergarten. We came across a wonderful site for youngsters called ABCmouse.com. I was eager to try ABCmouse.com and see if it was really worth the cost. I am one of those moms who is always debating whether to spend money on something or not. I hate wasting money. 

I was excited when I was able to review their site and share my experience with my readers. I was offer a code for a one year subscription to their site which is a value of 80 dollars. I was excited to try this site out and see if it was worth it. When I first went to ABCmouse.com I had to create and account and it was fairly easy to set up. Which was the first plus for me. I also like how you create your account if you have multiple children you can make separate accounts for each child. When you think about it if you have several children using this program it is worth the price of 80 dollars a year.

Well when I told my son we were able to try ABCmouse.com he rushed to the computer and sat on my lap and our journey has started. My son wanted me to help him at first and it was fun. Although shortly after I was not allowed to help him. ABC mouse was easy for my son to navigate around their site. He knew what to do for the majority of time a few time he asked a couple questions. 

What I really like about ABC mouse is that it is learning, but made fun for your child. Their are a lot of different activities for your child to partake on their site. Their is a classroom where you can go to and feed the class pet which are fish. Than you can go to lesson path. Each path has about 7 activities that make a lesson. Activities include music, coloring, stories, games, and so much more. What my son loves about completing the activities is that he received tickets afterwards. When you earn tickets you can go to their mall and trade them in for items to decorate your room on their site or my son bought hamsters that he would take care of on abc mouse. 

After a week I have seen improvements with my son. He started to recognize more letters from the alphabet. I am really excited to continue this journey with my son. Valentine’s Day and all of its traditions can be a fun occasion to show your loved ones you care. While exchanging candy is fun, celebrating the holiday with unique recipes can be even more exciting. We came up with a simple, adorable Valentine’s Day snack that will delight and offer a fresh take on sharing hearts.

Materials
Roma tomatoes

Basil leaves
Cheese squares of preference
Toothpicks

First, gather your materials.

Step One

We will be using our favorite cheese square snacks to make the arrow heads and fletching. Each snack will require two squares of cheese, one for the head and the other for the fletching. For the arrowhead, carefully cut one square into a triangle. For the fletching, do the same and then cut a smaller triangle, so that when you are done with this piece, it should look like a “V”. Wash your basil leaves.

Step Two

For each snack, you will need two tomatoes. For each tomato, cut 1/3 off in a diagonal. Then, arrange the tomatoes along the cuts to form a heart shape. Once they are arranged, drive a toothpick through the middle of your “heart,” like cupid’s arrow. Next, attach the cheese arrowhead and fletching to each side of the toothpick, and make sure the points face the same way. Enjoy each snack with a basil leaf and a Juicy Juice 100% juice box!

1 cup Juicy Juice™ 100% juice (your favorite flavor)
1 package (6 ounces) gelatin dessert, any flavor

DIRECTIONS

BRING Juicy Juice™ 100% juice to a boil in medium saucepan. Remove from heat. Stir in gelatin until completely dissolved. Pour into your silicone heart-shaped tray.

REFRIGERATE for 2 hours or until firm. Dip bottom of silicone tray in warm water for about 10 seconds. Carefully lift heart shapes from mold by pushing from the back of the tray.
